Wilmington Shooting Victim Runs To Nearby Hospital

Wilmington – On Sunday June 25th, 2017 at approximately 5:23 p.m., Wilmington Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of W. 3rd St. for a Shot Spotter notification. The alert was for seven rounds fired within Judy Johnson Park, near the basketball court.

Upon officers arrival, they were notified that a subject had been struck by gunfire and fled on foot from this location to the St. Francis Hospital. The victim was located at the hospital and found to have been shot one time in his right bicep, according to police.

He is in stable condition and expected to be released. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
