Body Found In Newark Victim Of Hit-And-Run, Driver Sought

Newark – At approximately 10:00 a.m this morning July 7, 2017, a witness reported seeing a body on the side of Elkton Road in the area of Otts Chapel Road. Officers responded to the area and located a deceased male on the side of the roadway, according to Newark Police Spokesman Fred Nelson.

Nelson said investigators were subsequently able to determine that the male was walking on the south side of Elkton Road when he was struck by a vehicle, which was traveling southbound.

The striking vehicle fled the scene and the police department was not notified at the time of the collision, said Nelson. Investigators have been able to identify the male victim and are in the process of making notification to his family.

Newark – At approximately 10 a.m. this morning a patron of the American Spirit Federal Credit Union discovered a deceased male on the side of Elkton Road, according to Newark Police Spokesman Fred Nelson.

Nelson said that Police are currently on scene investigating. The body was found near a drainage ditch at the intersection of Elkton Road and Otts Chapel Road in Newark, according to Nelson.

Nelson said that the cause of death has not been determined.
