Five Arrested In Newark-Area Burglaries

Newark – New Castle County Police (NCCPD) Detectives have arrested 19-year-old Hunter Foltz, 18-year-old Edwin Santiago-Rodriguez and three other juvenile for burglary and related crimes in the community of Meadowood, according to NCCPD Spokesman JP Piser.

Piser said on Tuesday (July 25), County Police began investigations into two night time burglaries in the community of Meadowood. Property Crimes Squad Detectives assumed the investigation and were able to identify Hunter Foltz as a suspect in the burglaries, according to Piser. Through the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for Hunter Foltz’ residence in the 100 block of Spruce Glen Dr (Meadowood). When detectives served the search warrant, they located Hunter Foltz, Edwin Santiago-Rodriguez and a 16-year-old boy within the residence. All three were taken into custody without incident. When detectives searched the residence, they found evidence implicating the three located there as well as two others: a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, said Piser.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the two outstanding suspects’ residence in the first block of N. Wynwyd Dr (Timber Creek). When detectives served the search warrant, they located the two boys inside as well as further evidence implicating them in the burglaries, according to Piser. The boys were taken into custody without incident.

 

Hunter Foltz was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, felony theft, obtaining a controlled substance by theft and criminal mischief. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $20,000 cash-only bail.

Edwin Santiago-Rodriguez, of the 1400 block of Clayton Rd in Wilmington, was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, felony theft, obtaining a controlled substance by theft, second-degree conspiracy and criminal mischief. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $21,000 cash-only bail.

The three other boys were charged with burglary and related offenses. All three were arraigned and released to their families.
