Man Shot In Groin, Police Can’t Locate Crime Scene

Wilmington – At around 3:00 a.m. this morning, Saturday July 08, 2017 Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to the St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room in reference to a walk in shooting victim. The victim, identified as a 33-year-old male was suffering from a gunshot wound to his groin area and is described as in stable condition, according to police.

Officials said the preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking in the area of W. 4th Street, between N. Van Buren Street and Rodney Streets when he was approached by three, unknown suspects. The suspects are described as two black males, early 20’s in age, and one black female with a heavy build.

The suspects demanded property from the victim, who initially complied, according to authorities. The suspects demanded additional property and the victim began to flee at which time one of the described suspects fired a handgun, striking the victim, said police. The victim responded on foot to the hospital and notified police.

An extensive area search was conducted by patrol officer’s as well as Criminal Investigations Division Detectives to locate a shooting scene and the suspects which met with negative results. No Shot Spotter notification of gunfire was received in the area.
