Multiple School Buses Go Up In Flames Near Baltimore

Mt. Airy, Md. – On Sunday July 30, at approximately 2:34 PM members of the Mt Airy Volunteer Fire Company (VFC) responded to  2106 Leroy Drive in Woodbine for what was originally dispatched as an investigation of smoke.

Arriving crews found several buses on fire. The buses were parked and were not operating at the time of the fire, according to Maryland State Fire Marshals.

Forty members of the VFC were able to bring the blaze under control after around 40 minutes. The fire damaged 4 buses causing a total estimated loss of $65,000.

 

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Mt. Airy, Maryland sits about 30 minutes northwest of Baltimore along Interstate 70.
