Police: Two UD Students Robbed At Gunpoint This Morning In Newark

Newark –  The Newark Police Department (NPD) is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on July 15, 2017  at approximately 2:30 am in the area of S. Chapel Street and Continental Avenue, according to Newark Police Spokesman Fred Nelson.

Nelson said the two victims, who are both 20-year-old University of Delaware students, from Newark, were walking south on S. Chapel Street when they were approached by the two suspects. The suspects engaged the victims in conversation and then produced handguns, said Nelson.

The suspects demanded that the victims turn over their wallets and cell phones and fled north on S. Chapel Street once the victims complied, according to Nelson. Neither victim was injured during this incident. An image of the alleged suspects walking in the area is posted above, according to Nelson.

Both suspects were described as being black males, late teens – early 20s, thin build, wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirts.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation should contact Detective William Anderson at 302-366-7100 ext. 3469 or [email protected]
