Reports: Two Men Fighting In Truck Smash Into Propane Tank On Route 40, “Not An Accident”

Bear – At approximately 5:30 am this morning, Saturday July 22, 2017, fire crews from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, Christiana, Belveder, along with DNREC’s Emergency Response Team responded to 1923 Pulaski Highway (Route 40) for reports of a vehicle accident.

Arriving crews found a Chevrolet pickup that had crashed into a propane storage tank at the BP gas station with two injured occupants.

Delaware State Police, along with area fire police and DelDOT crews quickly closed Route 40 WB while fire crews worked to make the scene safe.

Reports from the scene indicate that the two men in the truck were allegedly involved in a physical altercation due to a domestic dispute. While heading east on Route 40 the driver allegedly veered across the west bound lanes into the BP gas station parking lot, according to the reports.

A source familiar with the incident said “this is not an accident”.

Both men were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
