Blaze Quickly Destroys Home In Elkton Last Night

Elkton –  At approximately 8:15 pm last night, Wednesday, August 2 Singerly Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 100 block of  Wedgemont Drive in Elkton for reports of a house fire.

Units found heavy fire showing from the home upon arrival. Crews brought the two alarm blaze under control after about 40 minutes utilizing approximately 40 firefighters.

Reports from the scene indicated that someone may have received burns however the Fire Marshal’s office did not note any injuries.

The fire began in the garage and  moved into the home, according to officials with the Maryland State Fire Marshals Office.  The homeowner was working on a vehicle in the garage at the time of the fireand was the one who called 911, added officials.

Fire Marshals estimated the damage at approximately $350,000.
