Police: Man Charged After Trying To Sneak Heroin Into Prison

Harrington- August 2, 2017 the Harrington Police Department arrested Cody N. Broomall 24, of Harrington after he tried to sneak drugs into prison, according to Harrington Police Spokesman  Earl Brode.

Brode said while on patrol police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in progress and police arrested Broomall on charges related to that incident. Broomall was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of bond on those charges.

Broomall was then transported to the jail and while searching him inside the prison, correctional officers found 8 baggies of Heroin inside Mr. Broomall’s underwear, according to Brode.

Police also determined that he had the Heroin on his person during the domestic dispute and inside the residence with a small child, said Brode. As a result police obtained additional warrants for Broomall.

After he was released from prison he surrendered himself to the Harrington Police Department. He was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Promoting Prison Contraband and Possess or Consume a Controlled Substance. He was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was released on $2,200 unsecured bond.
