Police: Waving Burglary Suspect Nabbed Using Social Media

New Castle – New Castle County Police Detectives have arrested 27-year-old Craig Jones in connection with a burglary that occurred in the community of Penn Acres South, according to M/Cpl. Heather Carter.

Carter said on Sunday (August 6) New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Bunker Hill Road for the report of a burglary. Police were made aware that the suspect stole 3 handguns from the residence, said Carter. The resident’s home surveillance video captured a picture of the suspect. The video was then posted to New Castle County’s social media sites to assist with identification. Detectives received a tip identifying Craig Jones of the 100 block of Maple Oats Lane Clayton, Del to be the suspect in the video, according to Carter. Detectives issued a warrant for the arrest of Craig Jones.

Yesterday (August 14) at approximately 7:12 a.m., New Castle County Police were called to the community of West Minquadale for the report of a subject looking into vehicles, later identified to be Craig Jones. Police attempted to make contact with Craig Jones and a foot pursuit ensued, according to Carter. Craig Jones was taken into custody without further incident.

Craig Jones was charged with second-degree burglary, 3 counts of theft of a firearm, misdemeanor theft, criminal impersonation, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Craig Jones was arraigned and committed to Howard Young Correctional Institute after failing to post a $2,500.00 secured bail.
