The Delaware Memorial Bridge Is Back Open After Car Fire

New Castle – Th right two lanes on the west bound span, I-295 SB, are back open after an early morning car fire closed the bridge.

The bridge was closed for about 25 minutes while firefighters extinguished the blaze. DRBA Police remain on scene and are investigating.

Traffic remains heavy with a backup to to the NJ side toll plaza.

Fire crews are responding to the Delaware Memorial Bridge for reports of a car on fire. Heavy smoke can be seen coming from mid span.

The west bound span on I-295 sb is shutdown until further notice.

An earlier version of the this story identified the roadway as I-95, that was incorrect.
