Newark Police: Suburban Plaza Jewelry Store Robbed At Gunpoint

Newark – The Newark Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on 9/19/2017 at 11:50 am at Gallagher Jewelers, 410 Suburban Drive, Newark, according to Lieutenant Fred Nelson.

Nelson said an employee reported that the suspect entered the store and eventually displayed what appeared to be a handgun. The suspect demanded money and jewelry from the employee and fled out of the rear of the business with an undisclosed amount of merchandise and cash, according to Nelson. The suspect was then observed entering the passenger side of a silver sports utility vehicle parked in The Retreat apartment complex, west of Gallagher Jewelers. The suspect vehicle was last seen driving southbound on Elkton Road.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5’7’’ – 5’9’’, 220 – 240 lbs, with a goatee, and he was reportedly missing some of his teeth. He was wearing a navy blue or black Nike hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
