Authorities Update Rollover Crash In Bear, Three To Hospital

Bear – At approximately 9:00 last night, New Castle County Paramedics, Delaware State Police helicopter, Christiana and Delaware City Fire Companies were dispatched to the 700 block of Woods Road in Bear for a motor vehicle crash with report of a rollover, according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne Russell.

Russell said upon arrival New Castle County Paramedics found 3 patients involved in a single vehicle crash. The first patient, 26-year-old male, restrained passenger of the vehicle, was self-extricated. The patient suffered injuries to his abdomen and body wide abrasions. The patient was transported to Christiana Hospital via Delaware City Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. The patient was stable at the time of transport.

The second patient, 61-year-old male, restrained driver of the vehicle, was confined to his vehicle for about 20 minutes. The patient suffered injuries to his chest, abdomen, back and leg. The patient was transported to Christiana Hospital via Delaware State Police helicopter. The patient was in stable condition at the time of transport.

The third patient was transported to Christiana Hospital via Christiana Fire Company in care of emergency medical technicians. The patient was stable at the time of transport.

New Castle County Police Department is investigating the crash.

Bear – Rescue crews from the Christiana Fire Company are responding to the 700 block of Woods Road for reports of a injury crash.

Arriving crews have found one patient trapped and deer in the roadway. Trooper 4 is en route to the scene.

Update: 9:17 Patient extricated from vehicle.

Update: Trooper 4 has landed on the Caravel Academy soccer field and is awaiting the patient

Update: Reports from the scene indicate that two patients are being transported with trauma alerts. Initial reports indicate that a truck rolled over several times injuring two.

Update: The first patient is being transported by ground with a trauma alert.

Update: 9:39 Second patient being loaded onto Trooper 4.

Update:  Second patient is en route to Christiana Hospital with a trauma alert called. Medics are reporting that the vehicle struck a tree. Early reports of a deer strike are not confirmed at this time.
