Newark City Council To Hold Special Thursday (Nov 2, 6:30 pm) Meeting At Aetna Fire House

CITY OF NEWARK DELAWARE CITY COUNCIL NOTICE OF AND AGENDA FOR A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

Thursday – November 2, 2017 – 6:30 p.m. Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Station #8 410 Ogletown Road A Special City Council meeting will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Station #8, 410 Ogletown Road. Council will be considering the recommendation of the Cleveland Avenue Task Force to create a “FloridaT” intersection at Woodlawn Avenue and Capitol Trail.

Woodlawn Avenue would become unsignalized with a right turn in/right turn out only. Capitol Trail eastbound would have a constant green light unless a pedestrian pushes the button to cross Capitol Trail. If the “Florida-T” intersection is approved, an additional recommendation to install a “Hawk” (High-intensity Activated crossWalK) signal for the new crosswalk on East Cleveland Avenue, just west of McKees Lane with a central pedestrian refuge island will also be considered.

This is a signal that would stop traffic on East Cleveland Avenue at the crosswalk when activated by a pedestrian. Council may ask questions of presenters, discuss next steps in the process, give direction to staff and/or vote regarding the path forward on the “Florida-T” and “Hawk” signal recommendations during this special meeting. Public comment will be permitted.

This meeting will not be livestreamed on the City’s website due to technical capabilities at the location, but will be video recorded and posted on the website by November 3. DelDOT Florida-T Presentation /rkb Agenda Posted – October 24, 2017 Agenda Posted on Website – October 26, 2017
