Newark Police Make Arrest In Last Month’s Sonoco Knife Point Robbery

Newark – On 10/18/17 at approximately 6:30 am the Newark Police Department (NPD) executed a search warrant at a residence in the unit block of Madison Drive, Newark and arrested Scott Nichols, 29, for a knife point robbery that occurred on 9/22/17 in the parking lot of Sunoco, 287 S. Main Street, according to NPD Spokesman Lt. Fred Nelson.

Nelson said Detectives were able to identify Nichols after reviewing surveillance camera footage from several local businesses. Additional evidence linking Nichols to the robbery was recovered during the search warrant, added Nelson.

Nichols was video arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and given $25,000 secured bond. He was later committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution.

Newark – The Newark Police Department is investigating a late reported robbery that occurred on September, 22 2017 at approximately 6:00 pm at Sunoco, 287 S. Main Street. On September, 23 2017 the victim, a 32-year-old female from Newark, reported that she was seated in her parked vehicle at Sunoco when she was approached by the suspect, according to Newark Police Spokesman fed Nelson.

The suspect reportedly displayed a knife and demanded money from the victim, said Nelson. The suspect then reached into her vehicle and removed an undisclosed amount of cash, added Nelson. The suspect then fled on foot onto Murray road.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5’7’’ – 5’8’’, average build, short hair, wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt with blue cargo shorts.
