Police Arrest Suspect In Porta-Potty Killing

Wilmington – Wilmington Homicide Detectives have arrested Timothy Johns, 39, of Wilmington for the murder of Rashawna Weathers, according to police.

Officials said Jones has been charged with Murder in the First Degree Intentionally Caused Death Of Another and Possession of A Deadly Weapon During The Commission Of A Felony.

Victim Identified

Wilmington – Wilmington Homicide has released the name of the woman who was found murdered in Kirkwood Park on Sunday.  The victim who was found stabbed to death in a park porta-potty, near 11th and Spruce Streets, has been identified as Rashawna Weathers of Wilmington.

Wilmington – Early this morning, Sunday October 01, 2017, at approximately 9:32, Wilmington Police were dispatched to Kirkwood Park located at 11th and Spruce Streets for a report of a female who may be stabbed, according to police.

Officials said that upon the officer’s arrival they were directed to a porta-potty, which was located on the west end of the park. Located inside of the porta-potty was a 31-year-old female victim, covered in blood.

The victim was carefully removed from within the porta-potty and it was determined that she was deceased, according to police.  Officials said the victim sustained several stab wounds to her body.

One witness reported that while he walking his dog in the park he noticed feet protruding from the porta-potty. He indicated that he went back to his residence to retrieve his phone and returned to the park with his girlfirend. They both observed the female victim inside the porta-potty then immediately called the police.

Wilmington Police detectives along with the Forensic Services Unit are investigating.
