Dewey Beach- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating an attempted robbery of a gas station that occurred last evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the preliminary investigation has determined that the incident occurred on Friday, November 24, 2017 at approximately 6:58 p.m., as two male suspects wearing masks entered the Valero Gas Station simultaneously through two separate public entrances, located at 20880 Coastal Highway.

Upon entering the store, one suspect proceeded directly toward the rear of the front counter displaying a sharp instrument, said Jaffe. The suspect then observed that the store clerk was in the rear of the store and proceeded to walk towards the back of the store to confront the clerk, according to Jaffe. The store clerk was immediately able to retreat to a storage closet. The suspect alerted the other suspect that had entered the store with him, and both suspects exited the store from the same doors in which they entered. The store clerk was not injured during this incident.

Suspect one was described as black male, 5’9”-5’10” tall, medium build, wearing dark clothing, light colored shoes, white mask, round fisherman style hat, light colored gloves, and displaying a sharp instrument.

Suspect two was described as a large frame male, unknown race, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt , dark colored pants and shoes, light colored gloves, white mask, with a dread hair style, and displaying a sharp instrument.
