Man Investigating Noise Coming From Backyard Shot Dead

Wilmington – On Tuesday, 5 December 2017, at approximately 1:35 am, Wilmington Police were summoned to the 1000 block of W. 9th Street regarding a SHOT SPOTTER notification, according to police.

Officials said while officers were canvassing the area they were alerted of a shooting inside a dwelling, located in the 800 block of N. Jackson Street.

Preliminary reports indicate that at approximately 1:35 am the 29-year-old male victim was investigating a noise coming from the rear of his residence. As he approached the rear door gun fire struck the rear door from the outside, striking the victim in the torso.

Upon the officer’s arrival to this location they located the victim who was unconsious and unresponsive. Officers, immediately, conducted CPR, which was turned over to New Castle County paramedics. However, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
