Troopers Looking For Suspect That Robbed Store Near VA Hospital

Wilmington – Troopers are investigating a robbery of a Wilmington area store that occurred Wednesday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Gary Fournier.

Fournier said the incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m., Wednesday November 29, 2017 at the Smoke Shop Lottery located at 1706 Kirkwood Highway (Across from the VA hospital), as a male subject confronted a male employee as he was standing behind the counter. The suspect demanded money and cigarettes, implying that he was armed, according to Fournier. The clerk complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and a pack of cigarettes before the suspect fled out of the store. The store employee was not injured in the incident.

The suspect was described as a white male, 18-21 years of age, 5’11”-6’01” tall, 155-170 lbs., wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head, jeans, and dark colored shoes (no further physical or clothing description). He may have been armed with an unknown type handgun.

If anyone has any information in reference to this incident, they are asked to contact the Robbery Unit at Troop 2, Glasgow, at 302-834-2630. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at http://www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
