Wilmington House Fire Displaces Residents

Wilmington – On Sunday, December 10, 2017, at 3:42 am Wilmington Firefighters on the A platoon were alerted to a structure fire at 537 N. Bancroft Parkway, according to Battalion Chief John Looney.

Looney said Engine 6 arrived on location and reported fire showing from a two-story middle of the row residential dwelling. Engine 6 Officer Captain Malloy gave an updated report of heavy fire on the second floor. Incident Commander, Battalion Chief Richard Danner, arrived shortly after establishing command of the incident.

Engine 6 crew along with other arriving units quickly deployed multiple hose lines to combat the fire. An aggressive, systematic search was performed by Squad 4 and Ladder 2 personnel for any occupants of the dwelling which proved to be clear.

The scene was placed under control at 4:13AM by the Incident Commander, Battalion Chief Richard Danner. The Wilmington Fire Marshal’s Office investigators responded to conduct an investigation. The Red Cross was providing shelter for the displaced tenants.

Approximately 34 Fire and EMS personnel responded to the fire. The following units responded: Engine 6, Engine 1, Squad 4, Engine 5, Ladder 2, Tower 1, Battalion-1, Battalion-2, FM 18, St. Francis EMS, New Castle County Paramedics, Wilmington Licenses & Inspections, Delmarva Power and Light, and Red Cross.
