Purse Snatcher Pushes Woman To The Ground In Newark

Newark – The Newark Police are investigating a purse snatch robbery which occurred outside Acme located in the College Square Shopping Center on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:45 p.m., according to Sgt. Gerald J. Bryda.

Bryda said a 73-year-old woman had just finished loading groceries into her vehicle when she was pushed to the ground from behind. After she was pushed to the ground, the suspect stole her purse and fled on foot towards Ogletown Road.

The victim injured her elbow but did not require immediate medical attention. The stolen property consisted of a purse and its contents, including an iPhone. The phone was later recovered on Ogletown Road near Stafford Way.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20’s, wearing a tan jacket and a hat.
