File

Bear – Delaware State Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy from Bear for the attempted robbery of an area restaurant that occurred yesterday afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 12:43 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the Great Wall Chinese restaurant, located at 807 Governors Place, Bear. The boy placed a food order and as the 35-year-old, female employee opened the register to complete the transaction, he jumped on to the counter and reached into the register, in an attempt to obtain money, according to Austin. The employee closed the drawer on the boy’s hand, thwarting his attempt, and then alerted co-workers, who came to her aid, said Austin. The boy was detained by employees until Troopers arrived on scene. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
