Dear Gauger-Cobbs Middle School Parents/Guardians:

District and school officials were informed this morning of a threatening social media post made by a student on the evening of February 14. The post suggested threatening behavior towards other students. The student has been suspended from school and arrested, and the incident is being actively investigated by the Delaware State Police. The student will also follow disciplinary procedures outlined in the Christina School District Student Manual.

As soon as school officials were informed about the social media posting, the School Resource Officer was involved in evaluating the situation and recommending appropriate actions to be taken. The student was not in attendance at school today, but has been located, assessed, and charged. The Delaware State Police will continue to investigate this incident.

Gauger-Cobbs staff will continue to stay vigilant about all safety and security issues affecting students in our school. I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to the students at Gauger who acted maturely and responsibly in bringing this issue to the attention of school personnel.
