Wilmington – The Delaware State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to identify a shoplifting suspect, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.

Bratz said the preliminary investigation has determined the suspect entered the Walgreens on Friday March 9, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. located at 4201 Concord Pike; Wilmington. The suspect forced his way through the front doors before the business opened, according to Bratz. Once inside the suspect walked toward the front checkout counter.

The suspect then went behind the counter and crawled stopping where the cigarettes were displayed. The suspect then grabbed several cartons and packs of cigarettes, said Bratz. As the suspect crawled out from behind the counter, single packs of cigarettes fell out of his sweatshirt. The suspect then exited the store and fled with the merchandise and was last seen near Concord Pike.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 35-40 years old, 5’10” tall, 180 lbs. wearing a red Philadelphia Phillies baseball cap, black hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans. He has a distinctive mark on his right cheek which appears to be a boil.

If anyone has any information in reference to the identity of this individual, they are asked to please contact M/Cpl. R. Deskis at Troop 1, (302) 761-6677. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or via the internet at
