Car Into Newark Gas Station, New Castle County Collapse Team Responding

Newark – Just after 12:30 this afternoon firefighters from from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder’s Station 8 responded t0 668 Paper Mill Road for reports of a vehicle into a building.

Upon arrival, crews found a red sedan crashed into the Shell gas station, causing possible structural damage. At approximately 1:00 pm crews alerted the New Castle County Building Inspector to the incident.

At 1:20 pm the New Castle County Collapse Team was dispatched to the scene to shore up the building.

Update 1:45: Collapse Team canceled. Building turned over to the owner at 1:54 pm.

No injuries have been reported.
