Crash Leaves Woman Trapped, Flown To Trauma Center, Two Child Transported By Ground

Wilmington – This morning, at approximately 9:00 am, New Castle County Paramedics and personnel from the Holloway Terrace, Minquadale and Wilmington Manor Fire Companies were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Heald Street for a motor vehicle crash, with entrapment, according Paramedic Senior Corporal David J. McKinney, Jr.

McKinney said arriving County Paramedics found a one vehicle crash, with three occupants in the vehicle. There was one patient who was trapped and two children who were not trapped. The patient, a 26-year-old female, was extricated from the wreckage in eight minutes by fire department personnel on scene.

She was evaluated on scene for an arm injury and then flown to the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital on board Delaware State Police Aviation, Trooper 4, with a New Castle County Paramedic accompanying.

The patient was stable at the time of transport. Both children in the vehicle were transported to the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital for evaluation on board an ambulance from the Holloway Terrace Fire Company.

The Delaware State Police were on scene and are investigating the crash.

Wilmington – Crews are responding to the 1000 S. Heald Street for reports of vehicle crash with multiple patients trapped. Entrapment has been confirmed. Crews working to extricate patients. Trooper 4 en route.

Patient is being transported to Trooper 4’s LS (Landing Zone). Patient has been transported by air. Condition of the patient(s) is unknown at this time.

Update: 9:34 am Trooper 4 has landed at the trauma center with the patient.
