Moviegoer’s Car Catches Fire At Peoples Plaza, Two Other Vehicles Damaged

Glasgow – Just before 1:30 yesterday afternoon, firefighters with Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder’s Station 10, along with Delaware State Police, responded to Peoples Plaza, on Route 40, for reports of a car on fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a small car, parked near the movie theater, with fire showing. Crews quickly attacked the blaze and brought it under control within minutes.

In a post on Facebook the owner of the blue Ford F150 pickup said “The Rav4 caught fire and it got hot quickly and caught our truck ablaze. Owners were all at the movies blissfully unaware. Another red car on the other side of Rav4 also a little melted.”

Things could have been worse. “Our blue F150 had just gotten a full 30 gallon fill up”, said the Ford owner. She was thankful that the firefighters and passers-by worked together to bring the fire under control quickly.

No injuries were reported.
