Reports: Sliding Vehicle Traps Man In Newark, Transported In Serious Condition

Newark – At approximately 8:00 yesterday evening, New Castle County Paramedics and Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company were dispatched to the 100 block of Polly Drummond Hill Road for a pedestrian struck in Newark, according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne Russell.

Upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found the patient, an 18-year-old man, in care of fire department personnel. The patient suffered injuries to his leg. The patient was transported to Christiana Hospital via Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. The patient was in serious condition at the time of transport.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that the man was trapped when a vehicle slide on the ice, pinning the man’s leg. possibly between two vehicles.

Delaware State Police is investigating the crash.
