Route 40 Rollover Crash Sends One To Christiana Hospital

Bear –  Just after 12:00 this afternoon rescue crews from the Christiana Fire Company, along with Trooper 4 (Delaware State Police Aviation), Delaware State Troopers and New Castle County Paramedics responded to Route 40 (Pulaski Highway) in the area of the Wilmington University Sports Complex.

Upon arrival, crews found at least one of the occupants of the vehicle trapped, after what appears to have been a high speed rollover.  As the vehicle left the roadway it took out several street signs, before crashing into two trees and rolling over.

Crews were able to extricate the patient(s) after several minutes.  Ground medics assessed the occupants of the vehicle and determined that one patient would be transported to Christiana Hospital, with a trauma alert. It’s believed that the trauma alert was called as a precaution and that the patient was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The second occupant of the vehicle refused transport.

Trooper 4 was not utilized.
