Troopers Looking For Driver Who They Say Fled Auto Accident, Leaving Passenger Trapped In Vehicle

Georgetown – The Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the above suspect who is wanted in connection with Vehicular Assault First degree and multiple traffic charges according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on December 10, 2017 at approximately 4:24 a.m. when Troopers were dispatched to Oak Orchard Road at Nelsa Lane, Millsboro for a crash involving a single vehicle into a tree. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered that the driver, later identified as 23-year-old Keith R. Jones of Georgetown had fled the scene, according to Jaffe. A passenger in the vehicle, a 22-year-old man, was trapped and had to be extracted. The passenger was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Beebe Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Jones was located at approximately 4:52 a.m. at a residence on Basin Road. Jones had sustained injuries as a result of the crash and was subsequently transported by EMS to the Beebe Memorial Hospital where he was admitted, said Jaffe.

Jones was later released from the hospital and Troopers have been unable to locate him. Jones currently has active warrants out of Troop 4, for Vehicular Assault First degree, Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence-3rd Offense, Leaving the Scene of a Collision, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, and other traffic related offenses.
