Troopers: Gunman Attempts To Rob Newark Woman In Front Of Her Four Children

New Castle – Delaware State Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a Newark woman that occurred Thursday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at approximately 6:38 p.m. at the Shell Gas Station, located at 299 Christiana Road. The victim, a 28-year-old female, had just finished fueling her vehicle up at the gas pumps.

She proceeded to retrieve her wallet off the trunk of her vehicle where she had placed it, when a subject was simultaneously reaching for it. The victim was able to grab her wallet and enter her vehicle, locking the doors.

The suspect approached the drivers side door, displayed a handgun, and began banging on the window, said Jaffe. The victim was able to drive off in her vehicle unharmed. Also present in the victim’s vehicle during this incident were her four children ranging from 10 months to 11-years-old who were unharmed.

The suspect was described as a light skinned black male, in his 40’s, approximately 6’03” tall, 250 lbs., wearing light colored pants, a dark colored sweatshirt and a dark colored baseball hat.
