Update Officials Say Three Explosive Devices Found Inside Newark-Area Home

Newwark – The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the discovery of three explosive devices inside a Newark, home this afternoon, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal, Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio said the explosive devices were found in the unit block of Hunting Ridge Road in the Country Creek development off of Walther Road around 11:00 am. The Delaware State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit removed the devices and rendered the devices safe.

Deputy State Fire Marshals are working on the criminal investigation to bring this case to a successful conclusion. There were no injuries and no property damaged. Residents returned to their homes around 7:30 pm this evening, said Chionchio.

Special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives assisted in this investigation.

Breaking Report

Newark – Delaware State Police are currently investigating a potential suspicious device at residence in the Country Creek development.

The preliminary investigation occurred on Tuesday, April 8, 2018 when Troopers responded to the unit block of Hunting Ridge Road in reference to information received of a possible suspicious device.  Precautionary measures were taken and the immediate surrounding neighbors were evacuated.

Officials from the State Police, FBI, ATF, State Police EOD Unit and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office were on scene during the incident. Officials have released few details.
