Newark Man Charged With Shooting Woman In The Back, Listed In Critical

Wilmington Police have made an arrest in the June 23 shooting of a woman at 5th and Monroe Street. Official said after an extensive investigation 27-year-old Tymir Walley from Newark was developed as the suspect in this incident.

On that Saturday evening, officers were dispatched to area in regard to a fight.  Upon their arrival, officers reported hearing shots fired in the area. The victim, a 20-year-old female, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper back area.

Officers quickly began life-saving measures and called for an ambulance. The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics before being transported to Christiana Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition as of Saturday. Police have not updated the victim’s condition.

At the time police said the  shooting may have stemmed from the fight they were originally responding to.

Walley was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in connection with the shooting, according to police.

He was arraigned at JP Court #11 and transported to Howard R Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $21,500 cash bail.
