On Saturday night June 23, 2018 at 7:19, officers were dispatched to 5th and Monroe Street in regard to a fight, according to Wilmington Police. At the same time, arriving officers reported hearing shots fired in the area.
As officers arrived on scene, they located a 20-year-old female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper back area. Officers began life-saving measures and called for an ambulance.
The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to Christiana Hospital via ambulance where she is listed in critical condition.
The shooting may have stemmed from a fight in the area, according to police.
