Authorities Update Two Sunday Afternoon Accidents

Yesterday afternoon we told you that rescue crews were responding to multiple injury accidents just after 3:00. Authorities have released more details regarding two of those incidents

At approximately 3:10, New Castle County Paramedics were requested to the assist personnel from the Christiana Fire Company on the scene of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Route 896, according to Paramedic Senior Corporal David J. McKinney, Jr.

McKinney said arriving County Paramedics found the patient in the care of fire department Emergency Medical Technicians. The patient, a 46-year-old female, was involved in a multiple vehicle crash.

She was suffering from a possible head injury, along with injuries to the leg and hip. She has transported Christiana Hospital Emergency Department on board a Christiana Fire Company ambulance, accompanied by a New Castle County Paramedic. The patient was stable at the time of transport.

A few minutes later at approximately 3:21, New Castle County Paramedics were requested by Belvedere and Five Points Fire Company personnel, to assist at the scene of a motor vehicle crash located at 1000 Liberty Road.

Arriving County Paramedics found a vehicle crash, with the patient being extricated from the wreckage by fire department personnel. He was removed from the wreckage after approximately six minutes.

The patient, a 31-year-old male, was treated on scene for injuries to the chest and various body wide abrasions. The patient was transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Department on board a Belvedere Fire Company, accompanied by a New Castle County Paramedic. The patient was stable at the time of transport.
