The Newark Police have arrested Lawrence Lindell for Home Improvement Fraud following an investigation into his failure to provide services he contracted to perform and after having taken a deposit for the work, according to Lieutenant Andrew Rubin.
Rubin said on June 28, 2018, a Newark resident reported that in April of 2018, the resident hired a contractor to perform home improvements at the residence. The contractor claimed to be licensed and insured. The resident paid a deposit to the contractor and no work was ever performed, according to Rubin.
The subject was identified as Lawrence Lindell, 34, of Wilmington, DE. A warrant was obtained for the arrest of Lindell for Home Improvement Fraud.
On July 5, 2018, Newark Officers contacted Lindell via telephone and set up an appointment to obtain an estimate for work to be performed. Lindell arrived for the appointment, met with an undercover Newark Police Officer, and was taken into custody without incident.
At the time of his arrest, Lindell was found in possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia, said Rubin.
Lindell appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 and was committed to Howard R Young Correctional Institution in default of $1540 bail.
Lindell has been charged with Home Improvement Fraud (Felony), Possession of Methamphetamine (Misdemeanor), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor).
