Three Vehicles Stolen Within 10 Days In Newark

Newark – Three vehicles have been stolen and recovered over the last ten days, according to Newark Police Spokesman Sgt. Gerald Bryda.

Bryda said the first vehicle theft occurred overnight sometime between Sunday, July 15th 9:00 p.m. and Monday, July 16th 6:30 a.m. A 2018 Chevy Colorado was parked on the 200 block of Curtis Lane.The vehicle was left unsecured with a spare key left inside a bag in the vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered on the 16th in the University Plaza Shopping Center, suffering damage from a possible vehicle collision. Items including a laptop computer were also missing.

The second vehicle theft occurred overnight sometime between Tuesday, July 17th 9:00 p.m. to Wednesday, July 18th 5:00 a.m. A 2012 GMC Sierra pickup/work truck was stolen from the Candlewood Suites parking lot on South College Avenue.

The vehicle had been left unsecured with the keys inside. The vehicle was recovered on the 18th on Samantha Court in Bear. The vehicle suffered possible collision damage and tools were missing from it.

The third vehicle theft occurred overnight sometime between Monday, July 23rd 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday, July 24th 6:00 a.m.A 2017 Chevrolet Spark was parked on the unit block of Nathan Hale Court. The vehicle had been left unsecured with the keys inside. The vehicle was recovered on the 24th on Island Avenue in Philadelphia.

The Newark Police would like to remind residents to always lock their vehicle and never leave a key or a spare key inside of the vehicle.
