Troopers Release Video In Fatal Hit-And-Run Case, They Want To Talk To This Man

 

Felton – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate a fatal crash involving a bicyclist and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.

Bratz said the incident occurred on Saturday, July 14, 2018, between 3:15 a.m. and 3:44 a.m. on (U.S. 13) South DuPont Highway southbound just south of Plymouth Road north of Felton. A white SUV was traveling southbound on (U.S. 13) South DuPont Highway in the area of the 9000 block of South DuPont Highway when it struck a bicyclist.

The pictured vehicle, a white Toyota Highlander SUV along with the operator fled the scene, according to Bratz. The vehicle should have damage to the front right bumper.

Felton – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.

Bratz said the preliminary investigation reveals the crash occurred early this morning between 3:15 a.m. and 3:44 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018, on (U.S. 13) South DuPont Highway southbound just south of Plymouth Road north of Felton, Delaware. An unknown white SUV was traveling southbound on (U.S. 13) South DuPont Highway in the area of the 9000 block of South DuPont Highway. A pedi-cyclist, operated by a 28-year-old man of Felton, was traveling southbound on the asphalt shoulder of South DuPont Highway in the same area.

The unknown vehicle struck the pedi-cyclist in the rear wheel on the southbound shoulder, according to Bratz. The vehicle then continued southbound after striking the bicycle and did not stop, said Bratz. The man was projected forward and ejected off of his bicycle on the west edge of the southbound shoulder.

Bratz said the operator of the white SUV fled the scene. A partial white bumper was left at the collision scene.

The 28-year-old man of Felton was not wearing a helmet. He did have a light on the brim of his hat and was wearing a red Polo shirt with high visibility lime safety straps. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The collision was reported by a passing motorist, and there are no known witnesses at the time.

U.S. 13 southbound had a right lane restriction only. It was open during the investigation.

Felton – The Delaware State Police is currently investigating an accident involving a bicyclist that occurred just before 4:00 this morning.

Rescue crews from the Felton Fire Company, along with Kent County Paramedics, Delaware State Police and Trooper 2 (Delaware State Police Aviation Sussex) were dispatched Route 13 SB, near Plymouth Road, for reports of bicyclist that had been struck by a vehicle.

Responding Troopers reported that the patient was in serious condition.

DelDOT crews were called to the scene to shut down the road while Troopers investigated.

We will not be releasing any further details regarding this incident until Troopers have officially released a statement.
