Wilmington Kicks Off Its Summer Movies In The Park Series

Wilmington City Cinema kicks off with a showing of Sing in Brown-Burton Winchester Park on Monday night

Mayor Mike Purzycki and Department of Parks and Recreation Director Kevin F. Kelley, Sr. invite children and their families to a FREE screening of Illumination Entertainment’s Sing on Monday, July 30, in Brown-Burton Winchester Park, at East 26th and North Pine Streets. The popular animated musical will kick off the 2018 Wilmington City Cinema series, which will be held at various locations through late August. All of the movies will begin at 8:30 p.m., and free popcorn, water ice and water will be available to everyone in attendance.

“Wilmington is pleased to again be able to offer free, family-friendly movies in our parks this summer,” said Mayor Purzycki. “It’s a great way to bring neighbors together, even for a couple of hours, in a beautiful, open-air setting. So bring a lawn chair or blanket, grab some popcorn, and enjoy some wonderful films with your family.”

Wilmington City Cinema, now in its fifth year, will continue with FREE movie screenings each Monday and Wednesday evening through Monday, August 20. A complete schedule is included at the end of this news release. Also, the Department of Public Works’ Water Division will set up its new water filtration station at each event to offer moviegoers an opportunity to fill up their personal water bottles throughout the night for free with filtered, City-produced water.
