Firefighter Jerry W. Fickes Honored With Trail Dedication

This evening the City of Newark and Fickes family gathered with elected officials, first responders, neighbors, and friends to honor the life of fallen firefighter Jerry Fickes and unveil the official marker for the Jerry W. Fickes trail. The marker will be installed in Rittenhouse Park in the coming days.

Fickes was a longtime Newark AETNA Hose, Hook and Ladder Company firefighter who died in the line of duty in the fall of 2016, while serving as a member of the Wilmington Fire Department.
