Jerry W. Fickes Trail Dedication In Newark

What: The City of Newark and Fickes family will join with elected officials, first responders, neighbors and friends to honor the life of fallen firefighter Jerry Fickes and unveil the official marker for the Jerry W. Fickes trail in Rittenhouse Park. Fickes was a longtime Newark AETNA Hose, Hook and Ladder Company firefighter who died in the line of duty in the fall of 2016, while serving as a member of the Wilmington Fire Department.

When: Tuesday, August 21, at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Rittenhouse Park, 228 W Chestnut Hill Rd, Newark

IMPORTANT PARKING AND WEATHER INFORMATION FOR THIS EVENT: Due to limited parking at Rittenhouse Park, guests are requested to park at the Newark Park & Ride located at the intersection of S. College Avenue and Christina Parkway. Unicity buses will shuttle guests from the Park & Ride lot to Rittenhouse Park. The last shuttle will leave the Park & Ride at 6:15 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be relocated to Aetna Fire Station #7, 7 Thorn Lane, Newark.
