A 2010 Honda Accord, operated by a 37-year-old Drexel Hill, PA man, was traveling eastbound on Rt. 4 in the right lane, east of Chestnut St. A pedestrian, who was initially on the right shoulder of Rt. 4, entered into the right lane of travel, directly into the path of the Accord at which time he was struck by the front right end of the vehicle and thrown onto the windshield, before coming to rest in the roadway. The Accord was brought to a controlled stop and remained at the scene.

The initial investigation determined that he was not wearing any reflective clothing, not carrying a flashlight and not utilizing a marked crosswalk. Impairment on his behalf is unknown at this time. Identification is pending the notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Accord was properly restrained and did not sustain any injuries. Impairment on his behalf is not a factor in the crash.
