Troopers: Man Leaving Newark Boys & Girls Club Carjacked, Robbed

Bear – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a carjacking that took place in the parking lot of a Bear area shopping center Saturday night, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 9:00 pm., Saturday, August 4, 2018, in the parking lot of the Food Lion, located at 1607 Pulaski Highway, Bear. A 24-year-old Wilmington man had just left an event at the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club and returned to his vehicle which was parked in the Food Lion lot.

As the victim sat in his vehicle, maroon, a 2010 Nissan Maxima,  he was confronted by an armed suspect who ordered him to get out of the vehicle and to turn over all his money, according to Austin. The victim complied with the demands at which time the suspect entered the Maxima and fled westbound on Pulaski Highway. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and in possession of a black unknown make and model handgun.
