Update: 12-Year-Old Child Who Was Shot Has Succumbed To His Injuries

UPDATE on shooting investigation: The 12-years-old victim, initially reported as being 13-years-old, was pronounced dead at A.I. Dupont Children’s Hospital. Wilmington Detectives on scene have preliminary determined that this incident occurred within a residence in the 1300 Block of E. 27th Street and that the incident may have been an accidental shooting, according to Wilmington Police.

 

Police are continuing to investigate.

This morning, Friday, August 3, 2018, at approximately 9:45, Wilmington Police responded to a residence in the 1300 Blk. E. 27th Street regarding a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 13- year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to A.I. Dupont Children’s Hospital in critical condition, according to police..

Wilmington Detectives are currently on scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
