Shots Fired Incident Leads To Drug Bust, Suspect Held On $100,000 Bail

On Thursday, October 18, at approximately 8:27 pm, Wilmington Police responded to the 400 block of E. 2nd Street in reference to a ‘shots fired’ complaint.

Upon their arrival, officers conducted a canvas of the area and discovered, through investigative means, that a subject had discharged a firearm in the area, however, nothing was struck, according to police.

Officers from the Uniformed Services Division developed information which led to obtain a search warrant for a home in the 400 block of E. 2nd Street.

A search of the residence led to the discovery of Two grams of crack cocaine, One hundred grams of marijuana, and one handgun, according to police.

Police say Andre Richards, 44, of Philadelphia, discharged the firearm in the 400 block of E. 2nd Street.

He has been arrested and charged with POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY PERSON PROHIBITED, POSSESSION OF AMMUNTION BY PERSON PROHIBITED, FIVE COUNTS OF RECKLESS ENDANGERING, and POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DELIVER/DRUG DEALING.

Richards was arraigned and was committed to Howard Young Correctional Institute on a $100,000 cash only bail.
