Police: Fight Leads To Gunfire, Nephew Charged With Killing His Uncle

On November 23, 2018, at 7:51 AM, Cecil County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Theodore Road Rising Sun in reference to a shooting, according to the agency.

Upon arrival, Deputies found James Hammersley Biddle, 45, of Rising Sun, Maryland inside the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Shortly after their arrival, medical crews pronounced Biddle dead at the scene.

Sheriff’s Office Deputies immediately discovered that the victim’s nephew and roommate, identified as Kelly Patrick Biddle Jr., 21, was responsible for firing the gun, according to officials. He was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said their investigation revealed that the two Biddles were involved in a verbal argument that got physical. Investigators said they believe that Kelly Biddle Jr. brandished the gun during the argument and fired it multiple times, striking the victim.

During his arrest a Deputy noticed that Biddle had blood on his hands and clothing, according to the agency.

Investigators charged Kelly Biddle Jr. with Murder 1st degree, along with multiple other charges.

He was later reviewed by the District Court Commissioner’s Office and and held on no bond at the Cecil County Detention Center.

An autopsy was conducted on November 24, 2018 by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where it was confirmed that the victim died as a result of gunshot wounds.
