Police: California Man Sits In Sussex Jail After Cops Find Nearly 12lbs Of Weed

Georgetown Police have arrested a California man for drug-related charges after stopping him for a traffic violation on South Dupont Boulevard, according to Public Information Officer Detective Joey Melvin.

Melvin said on December 8, 2018, at approximately 6:11 a.m. Georgetown Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on South Dupont Boulevard near Shortly Road. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 11.5 pounds of marijuana and seized 100 THC vape pen cartridges from the vehicle.

David Mao 42, of San Francisco, California was arrested for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity, inattentive driving, and two counts of possession of marijuana other than personal use with aggravating factor.

Mao was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $250,000 cash bond.
