Foot Pursuit Ends With Wilmington Man Charged

A New Castle man is facing resisting arrest and drug charges after leading Wilmington Police on a brief foot pursuit February 23, officials said.
At approximately 6:37 p.m., police on patrol in the area of 10th and Pine Streets attempted to contact 18-year-old Dawan Devlin in reference to loitering. As they exited their vehicle, Devlin took off on foot and led officers on a brief foot pursuit, according to police. He was taken into custody without further incident and was found to be in possession of 67 grams of marijuana packaged in a manner consistent with resale, according to police.
Devlin was charged with resisting arrest, loitering for drug-related activity and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released pending further proceedings.
