Happening Now: Crews Responding To Commercial Structure Fire In Wilmington

Wilmington – Firefighters from several New Castle County fire companies have responded to 100 Amer Road for reports of a commercial fire.

Upon arrival, crews are reporting that this a recycling plant and paper waste is on fire on the back side of the building.

Crews are trying to make access to the fire.

Brandywine Command has asked for Delmarva Power to respond to the scene to cut the power.

Crews are reporting heavy smoke inside the building. The sprinkler system has activated and is causing an issue with visibility.

The primary search for victims is negative.

Employees have evacuated the building.

The waste compactor has been shut down in the area of the fire.

Fire Marshals have arrived on scene.

Crews reporting that the fire in the compactor is knocked down.

Extensive overhaul will be required.

Crews asking for lights to illuminate the building.

Heavy smoke still causing an issue.
