Police Identify Deceased Husband Who They Say Stabbed Wife Numerous Times

Lincoln– The Delaware State Police are investigating a domestic-related incident that led to a stabbing, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on February 16, 2019, at approximately 6:04 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 200 block of Cedar Drive for an initial report of a domestic involving a stabbing. Further investigation revealed that a 36-year-old female had been stabbed numerous times by her 39-year-old husband David Galarza-Burgo, said Jaffe. Galarza-Burgos fled the scene prior to police arrival and was later located in a nearby park deceased by an apparent suicide.

The victim was initially transported to the Milford Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

The 39-year-old individual has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the manner and cause of death.

Jaffee said due to the sensitive nature of this case and in consideration for the victim, only limited information will be released.
